I transitioned this site to the Cloudflare CDN to see what, if any, benefits would be gathered by being on their CDN. Over the last 4 days there have been hits and data from other sites that it may be helping remote users get in easier.
If you are from anywhere outside of the US leave me a comment on how the site loaded. I am still trying to figure if I should stay with this or after a month migrate it over to BunnyCDN. BunnyCDN has some pretty great reviews which makes me feel like it make be a good choice.
What is a CDN?
Basically, a content delivery network (CDN) is a large geographically distributed group of servers which are built to work interactively specifically to provide fast delivery of Internet content in many areas.
For example, if you are in the UK, my server is in the United States which typically would mean you would be slow to receive information from me and load the page. Moving to a CDN means now my data is presented from a server much closer to your physical location meaning you load much faster on my content.
This is why it is so hard for me to judge, I am always in close proximity to my area and server. This means without using a VPN to simulate you are in a different country it is just based on company promotion that your site is fast elsewhere.
Who Is Cloudflare?
Clouodflare is one of the largest CDN networks in the world. They provide incredibly large companies CDN services and they are also amazing as they provide a free tier. It doesn’t have all the features of the pro and higher levels but it gives you an escalation path.
This site of mine is to help everyone tweak and make Acabado perfect for them and ensure the sites differ between each other in ways that makes everyone happy. If this isn’t working well, or even is, it would be a disservice to not test out multiple services and provide feedback and hear yours as to performance!
