Adding Amazon Disclaimer Before Your Post Content With CSS

Featured Tiles
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made on our website. If you make a purchase through links from this website, we may get a small share of the sale from Amazon and other similar affiliate programs. You can read our complete legal information for more details.

With the new email from Amazon, Matt from Dirt Wheel Rider, tweaked his website to add the disclaimer to the header.

This left the question which was most asked, what was needed to ensure compliance. After reading from Income School, Dom Wells and other Niche site creators the following was the best approach with proper wording.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases…

This will add a disclaimer before each post saying that any links inside could produce income for you when used to make a purchase, including the section Amazon, wants specifically added…

This can be done by adding a small Custom CSS to your Acabado (or other) theme.

.post::before {
    content: 'As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made on our website. If you make a purchase through links from this website, we may get a small share of the sale from Amazon and other similar affiliate programs. You can read our complete legal information for more details.';
    display: block;
    align-content: center;
    font-family: "libre_franklinregular",sans-serif;
    margin: 30px 60px 30px 60px;
    padding-top: 30px;
    padding-bottom: 30px;
    text-align: center;
    font-size: 16px;
    padding-right: 30px;
    padding-left: 30px;
    background: #ebfaff;
}

Then you can customize the background color if you choose along with text size and alignment if you need to.

Version For Below Header (Works On Schema Pages)

.entry-content::before {
    content: 'As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made on our website. If you make a purchase through links from this website, we may get a small share of the sale from Amazon and other similar affiliate programs. You can read our complete legal information for more details.';
    display: block;
    align-content: center;
    font-family: "libre_franklinregular",sans-serif;
    margin: 30px 60px 30px 60px;
    padding-top: 30px;
    padding-bottom: 30px;
    text-align: center;
    font-size: 16px;
    padding-right: 30px;
    padding-left: 30px;
    background: #ebfaff;
}

Please note this differs from the version we are running and a post will be upcoming on running a code based version like I am running through the use of “Code Snippets” plugin.

  1. Hi Josh,

    You are doing a great service here. I still can’t find any info on how to center my Featured Images on the individual post pages. When I click on one of my articles from the homepage (or anywhere), it takes me to the individual post page. The Featured Image shows up but it is spaced off to the left side.

    Where do I go to CENTER the Featured Image on the actual post?

    1. It was posted as a solution yesterday and is on the front page. It is due to the width of the image not being at least 768px.
