To make your homepage have a little excitement to it instead of being a flat document you can use Custom CSS to manage some effects on the hover state for a container.

This will give a hover effect while over the recent posts on the homepage and while the cursor is over the blog posts.

main#main:hover {
    box-shadow: 2px 2px 6px -2px #9c9c9c;
    transition: ease-in-out, width .35s ease-in-out;
}

  1. Hi Josh. Putting this into my CSS isn’t adding any hover effect. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything for me.
    Would you know why?
    I like how it looks on your getacabado.com and I also like how the 3d border around everything fades in and out.
    Thanks

    1. It works when applied here, I would wonder if you have the server and hosting caching enabled which shows you old “cached” copies so it can serve the page faster to visitors. This would make it appear as if nothing has happened. I would suggest emptying them first to see.

      1. I’ve managed to get it to work. I just had to remove the code for the permanent border around the recent posts. I guess I just couldn’t see it because it already had the border. Thanks Josh.
